Inspiration: HOUGHTON Fall/Winter 2016

"The Black Rose Collection"

“Romanticism at the witching hour... dancing in the moonlight... a glimpse of skin through torn lace... ripping lace off the body... an unlaced bodice... vamp... shimmering stars against a dark sky... darkness meets the light... temptation.”

-- Katharine Polk

On February 10th, HOUGHTON hosted a private preview of their Fall/Winter 2016 collection in their West Chelsea atelier for a select group of editors, buyers and industry influencers.

For her Fall/Winter 2016 collection, designer Katharine Polk drew inspiration from celestial romanticism and sexy vamp silhouettes. She continues her exploration of distinctive laces and embroideries, using them in a masculine yet sexy way, taking inspiration from her go-to HOUGHTON muses; Bianca Jagger and Katharine Hepburn.

The bright white loft space, with black and white decor was the perfect setting for the striking black, white and blush collection, titled “The Black Rose Collection”- featuring evening gowns and cocktail dresses, suits, and elegant separates that go from day to night. Highlights include a black sequin tuxedo with delicate chiffon finishing, white Guipure lace separates with black leather “lace-up” detailing and hand engraved silver bolo tips. An exclusive star motif Chantilly lace that plays on Katharine’s “witching hour” inspirations is shown throughout the collection on gowns, dresses and bodysuits.
